About Sherman

Sherman Fabes

My name is Sherman Fabes and I am a born and raised New Yorker currently an Emmy Award winning freelance Associate Producer for CBS Sports Network. I produce and edit montages, essay features, high-end teases, on-air talent segments, highlights, sound packages and miscellaneous production elements, for various CBS Network shows including Time to Schein, the NFL Pregame show, That Other Pregame Show, We Need to Talk and Inside College Basketball. Additionally, I work on a small team that developed and established the CBS Sports News Team. Along with other duties, our News Team produces and delivers daily news digests and helps create continuity and standards across CBS Sports employees and platforms.

Previously, I was a broadcast associate/associate producer at MLB Network (where I won my Emmy Award). Along with other duties, I produced and edited montages, essay features, high-end teases, on-air talent segments, highlights, sound packages and miscellaneous production elements, for various MLB Network shows including Emmy award winning MLB Tonight. I was part of a small team that helped create and launch MLB Network’s daily midday show High Heat with Christopher ‘Mad Dog’ Russo.

I am a 2013 graduate of the University of Missouri. I received a Bachelor of Journalism with a dual emphasis in Broadcast Journalism and Strategic Communication. I graduated from Bard High School Early College in 2009 with an A.A. Degree from Bard College.

At the University of Missouri, I was active and involved in many different aspects of the school and the community. To supplement my work in the Missouri School of Journalism, I have worked for the following news organizations and consulting agencies:

  • KOMU television (mid-Missouri’s NBC affiliate) – General Assignment Multimedia Reporter, Producer and Field Producer
  • KMOX – AM (CBS O &O) – Lead Statehouse Reporter, Fellow, and Multimedia Reporter
  • Missouri Digital News – Multimedia Reporter, Teaching Assistant and Assignment Editor
  • KBIA – FM – Multimedia Sports Reporter and Blogger
  • YAYA Connection – Operations Manager and Teaching Assistant
  • Mizzou All-Access – Play-by-Play and Color Sports Broadcaster

I believe the best reporters, producers, journalists, communicators and people overall are well-rounded. But being well-rounded is not about the amount of activities and organizations you have listed on a resumé, but rather the leadership roles you take on, in the things you love to do. I dedicate my free time to the things I love the most: sports, news, family, friends, Judaism, and the media. Below are the best two pieces of advice I have ever received. I live by these words and hope to pass them on to as many people as possible throughout my life.

“You can’t fulfill your dreams unless you dare to risk it all.” – Michael Levin

“The best investment you can make is in yourself.” – My father, Keith Fabes
